The course The Art of Spiritual Direction<\/strong>\u00a0provides an\u00a0opportunity to learn the<\/p>\n

gentle art of listening, noticing, deepening, challenging and celebrating ~ \u00a0spiritual accompaniment.\u00a0\u00a0ASD flyer 2018b<\/a><\/p>\n

Do others naturally come to\u00a0you to share their hopes and fears about their faith journey?<\/strong><\/p>\n

From your own experience\u00a0of receiving\u00a0spiritual direction, do you sense an invitation to come alongside others?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Perhaps now is the time for\u00a0you to commit to acquiring the skills and disciplines, the self-awareness and understandings, you\u00a0need in order to accompany others?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This one year programme of approximately 70 hours uses an interactive and practical approach to learning, with case studies, practice triads, and reflective\u00a0discussions. Your facilitators are experienced spiritual\u00a0directors and themselves are directees: they too are learning how best to meet God\u00a0in the circumstances of\u00a0their lives.<\/p>\n

This ancient art of spiritual accompaniment is not about learni\"Well\"ng to be directive or give\u00a0advice or solve life problems or even about coaching for better prayer performance! It is all about\u00a0holding sacred space, about discerning together the voice of God, about drawing alongside … \u00a0the\u00a0young adult in the prime of life or the weary burnt-out pilgrim, the faithful churchgoer of many\u00a0years, or the sceptic wondering about violence and suffering\u00a0\u00a0– who all equally long for a more intimate and authentic\u00a0relationship with the Divine.<\/p>\n

Before applying for this programme, you are encouraged to embark on the Diocese’s \u00a0spiritual formation<\/a> programme, and a listening skills course, which are both ways to prepare for the director training. \u00a0Applicants also need\u00a0to be meeting monthly with their own spiritual director, and take a silent\u00a0retreat or a retreat in daily life.<\/a><\/p>\n

The next course will run from September 2018 to July 2019,\u00a0 as 3 terms of ten weekly Wednesday evening sessions with 4 Saturday workshops. The Wednesday venue is St Mary’s Church, Walsgrave.<\/p>\n

The first\u00a0day of the course is a workshop on Saturday 22nd September,\u00a0 at Breathing Space, 123b Birmingham Road, CV5 9GR.<\/p>\n
