Directing our celebrations to God in worship, <\/em><\/p>\n

we look for excuses to throw parties, <\/em><\/p>\n

consciously marking every milestone and achievement \u2013 <\/em><\/p>\n

no matter how small! <\/em><\/p>\n

We want to be people of generosity, <\/em><\/p>\n

who refuse to take ourselves too seriously.<\/em><\/p>\n

INTO THE PRESENCE OF GOD<\/p>\n

Trust in God at all times, people. Pour out your hearts to the Holy One.
\nFor God alone my soul waits in silence.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Silence<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Sing:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/em>In the Lord I\u2019ll be ever thankful; in the Lord I will rejoice.<\/p>\n

Look to God! Do not be afraid! Lift up your voices the Lord is here!\u00a0 (Taize)<\/p>\n

God of generosity and diversity, we praise you,
\njoining with all the universe, with the earth and everything in it,
\nseen and unseen, from West and East, South and North.
\nTogether we celebrate your ongoing creation, your endless renewal<\/p>\n

of this world you so loved that you gave and gave and gave.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In the silence, knowing that you love us to the death,<\/strong><\/p>\n

We have the courage to be honest about how we are<\/strong><\/p>\n

And to share ourselves openly with you, Lover of our souls. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Regardless of our feelings right now,<\/p>\n

We choose to celebrate God\u2019s resilient love and generous faithfulness.<\/p>\n

Thou changest not, thy compassions they fail not. As thou hast been thou forever will be.<\/p>\n

All I have needed thy hand has provided. Great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me.<\/p>\n

THANKSGIVING AND LAMENT<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Many people are at this moment suffering the agonies of war.
\nHow can we presume to celebrate in the face of such violence, devastation and horror?
\nHow can we sing the Lord\u2019s song in this strange land, this strained world?<\/p>\n

Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted<\/strong><\/p>\n

We stand in solidarity with all losers and winners,
\nall aggressors and victims,
\nrecognising these in ourselves….
\nSilence<\/em><\/p>\n

O suffering one, you have emptied yourself and shown humanity how to embrace its darkness.<\/strong>
\nO loving spirit, you dwell with us, your heart afire with hope and longing.<\/strong>
\nO mothering essence, you nourish us, deepen us, and invite us to resurrection and delight.<\/strong><\/p>\n

We bow our heads in humility and profound thanksgiving for the many freedoms we enjoy….<\/p>\n

Individuals speak out freedoms they are thankful for.<\/em><\/p>\n

Jesus our surprising Messiah,<\/p>\n

You shared a table with Pharisee and outcast alike.<\/p>\n

To you they brought their pain and passion,<\/p>\n

Their perfume to pour on your feet.<\/p>\n

And the angels partied in heaven.<\/p>\n

With you, Jesus, we want to celebrate<\/strong><\/p>\n

Every small sign of your Kingdom,<\/strong><\/p>\n

To be free with praise as well as protest.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Let there be festivity in our gatherings today,<\/strong><\/p>\n

A welcome for the hurting and the lonely<\/strong><\/p>\n

And a taste of the great feast to come.<\/strong><\/p>\n
